May 19 Update

Weather has been great – in the 20s and managing to stay above zero at night.
I have planted several boxes with mixed micro greens (mustard, arugula, spinach, endive, escarole, chicory etc).
Tomatoes and basil are doing well.
May seed some carrots and beets soon.
Haskap bushes seem to be coming back.

May 5 Update

Weather has improved. Most of the snow has melted and the poppies are starting to come up. Fresh buds are visible on Saskatoon bushes and choke cherry trees. Ground still frozen a couple of inches down. I have been planting a few lettuce seeds in the greenhouse every day since Wednesday.
Some basil, lettuce and vines that I planted indoors last weekend are coming up.
Transplanted most of my tomatoes into larger containers.
Soon I’ll be putting them outside during the day.
Had a tray of lettuce outside today.
Looks like it might get a bit cooler over the next few days.

Zero bright dirty

Weather is supposed to change today. Daytime high to get above zero…11 by the weekend…sandals soon….sometime…
