August 21 Update

Lettuce is doing well. We had some unseasonably hot weather about a week ago. The lettuce had been sucking a bit, growing slowly, but the ones I planted in July are doing well and the second growths (from ones that had their heads clipped) are also producing well.

The basil is also doing well. A large salad bowl worth of harvest each week now. Pesto is being made and frozen for the winter.

Tomatoes are ripening slowly as usual but it has been picking up of late. Hopefully we’ll stay well above zero at night for the next 3 or 4 weeks.

Saskatoons – second harvest Aug 5

It has been our best year yet for Saskatoon berries. The two bushes (one primarily) will have produced about 3L or 13 cups or so this year.

Here are two pics from our second harvest.
